This lift bridge in Downtown Beaumont, Texas is one of the few remaining lift bridges in the United States. It has the largest span (205') of any of the remaining bridges, but cannot be raised high enough to accomodate some of the large ships of today. More than 50 trains each week pass over this bridge, many of them supporting the Port of Beaumont that claims the position of second largest port in the United States for military cargo.
